Never painted on vinyl toys before, so it was a crazy week putting these cats together.
The challenge with these toys is you never knew what accessory they’re shipped with. Would there be a hat? A sword? An Axe?
The unpainted trio looked like some part of gang. So I went with the idea they were some big boss’ henchmen, collecting debt and roughing up hoodlums. It was also fun dreaming up personalities for the cats. One loves a good bout of fisticuffs, the one with the gentleman’s hat was caught in an explosion, and the one with the tux is cray cray enough that he’ll keep fighting if there’s an axe wedged in his head.
They were made to be part of a small show at Gamuso Art Gallery in Asagaya, Japan.
